Retaining Walls

Retaining walls can bring style and elegance to your landscape design. Whether it be your pool surrounds, patio, courtyard, garden path, garden edges, terraces or ponds.

Retaining walls range from simply using large rocks placed to hold soil back, to modular block walls of which there are many different shapes, sizes and colours to concrete sleepers, to large limestone block walls and many others in between.

The material used for your situation will depend on how high your wall is (any retaining wall over 1000mm will need council approval), how it matches your house or situation, wether it becomes part of the 'look' of your garden or if it's hidden and it is only there for structural reasons.

When costing a retaining wall it is worth noting that although modular block walls are quite often more expensive to buy the materials, the cost of constructing compared to a labour intensive mortared wall can be considerably less.
